Our Customer Reviews
Our customer reviews also highlight how fantastic Emma mattresses are, with many happy customers experiencing peaceful sleep after their purchases. Here are some reviews from happy customers.
- 'My husband and I have been sleeping on this mattress for one week and we are so happy with it. I have never bought a mattress without trying it in a shop but the 200 night free trial proves a point how comfortable it is. We usually have a firm mattress so knew this maybe slightly softer than we are used to but I have no complaints so far. The mattress is more spongy but still feels firm and holds our bodies perfectly in bed giving us a great night's sleep.'

Emma Hybrid Original Mattress (££)
The Hybrid Original Mattress is, as the name suggests, one of Emma’s first mattresses featuring memory foam and pocket springs. Available in a range of sizes from single to super king, this is a great mattress for those looking for comfort and support without any specific sleeping needs.
The mattress is a medium-firm mattress, sitting at 7 on the firmness scale. It has a removable polyester cover that is soft and easy to wash, helping prolong the life of your mattress.
Before we dive into the layers that make up the structure of this mattress, let’s explore what a hybrid mattress is.
Hybrid Mattresses
Hybrid mattresses are an evolution of memory foam, featuring cooler foam and pocket spring features to provide pressure relief.
Top layers of foam mould around your body, providing softness and comfort. Underneath these layers are pocket spring foundations. These foundations are made of springs wrapped in either calico or polyester, providing great support due to each spring being independent.
The Emma Hybrid Original Mattress's top layers are made up of Point Elastic Airocell® to allow airflow throughout the night, as well as a firm memory foam and high resiliency extra (HRX) layer to prevent sinking into the bed and offering pressure support. The foundation contains 3-body-zone springs for excellent motion isolation, keeping the bed steady whether you toss and turn in the night, or sleep next to a restless partner.
This mattress is great for everyone due to its support no matter your sleeping position.
Emma Hybrid Premium Mattress (££)
The Emma Hybrid Premium Mattress is a best seller and a step up from the Original, with a 7-zone mattress design. This mattress has improved breathability, motion absorption, and comfort. It’s a great level-up for those who need a little more support and airflow for a comfortable night’s sleep.
The stand-out feature of the Hybrid Premium is the 7-zone technology. With body support in mind, the infinity spring base has been adapted into 7 different zones to provide the best support for the different parts of your body. This is what gives the Hybrid Premium a slight edge over the Original when it comes to overall body support during the night. However, if you’re looking for extra firm support throughout the night, this is not the best choice.
Before we continue, let’s dive into exactly why firmness is important to consider when choosing a mattress.
Mattress Firmness Scale
Mattress firmness is like a good cup of coffee, everyone likes it slightly differently. That’s why picking the right firmness can be tricky. Plus, because everyone’s body and sleeping styles are different, the way we experience the firmness of a mattress varies from person to person.
The firmness scale is designed to help you find a mattress to suits your preferences. The scale ranges from 1 to 10, with 1 being extremely soft (imagine sinking into clouds) and 10 completely firm and solid (imagine sleeping on your floor). If you are unsure of your preferences, we recommend checking the firmness of your current mattress and going from there.
Emma mattresses fall in the range of medium-firm, situated between 6-8 on the scale. Beds at this scale utilise soft top layers with firmer bottom layers to provide support and pressure relief. This ensures correct spinal alignment and support.
Like the Emma Original, the Hybrid Premium is a medium-firm mattress, situated at 7 on the firmness scale. If you are looking for firmer support, the Hybrid Cooling is a better choice with a firmness rating of 7.5.

Emma Mattress FAQs
Which mattress is ideal for those experiencing discomfort or back pain?
It’s worth speaking to an expert about your specific needs when it comes to your discomfort or back pain. The mattress you need will vary depending on the cause of your discomfort and pain. It may be more important for you to find pressure point relief, or improved spinal alignment, both of which will be best supported by different mattresses.
To relieve pressure points, consider a softer mattress such as the Emma Premium Mattress. The soft mattress will conform to your body shape, providing less pressure on key areas. Whereas, if spinal alignment is your focus, a hybrid mattress may be best for you. This is due to their combination of foam and springs. Take a look at our full range and see what seems like the best fit for you.
What is the best type of mattress for side sleepers?
If you're a side sleeper, you need to make sure that you're choosing a mattress which allows your body to contour into the mattress to alleviate pressure on the hips and shoulders. This will prevent discomfort and pain. Hybrid mattresses are a great choice due to their combination of foam and soft springs. Choose a medium-firm mattress for additional spine support, such as the Emma Original Mattress.
Which mattress has the best spinal support?
All Emma mattresses are designed with your spinal alignment in mind, but if you're looking for that extra comfort then you want to look out for a mattress with their specialised HRX supreme foam. This foam provides a supportive base for your spine, but it is also soft enough to contour your body for comfort and pressure relief. The Emma Hybrid Mattress is a great choice for this, as well as the Emma Premium Mattress.
How to unpack your Emma Mattress?
Unpacking your Emma Mattress is easy! It arrives in a box, but it just takes a few short steps to get it ready for your perfect night's sleep.
- Place the box on a flat service, remove the mattress from the box and put it on the bed.
- Use scissors to carefully remove the outer plastic wrap.
- Roll out the compressed mattress, and leave the mattress to decompress for 24-48 hours.
- Have a beautiful night's sleep!
