About Elsham Hall Gardens & Country Park:

Elsham Hall has a rich history dating back to the 1760s, serving as everything from a family home to an RAF Anti-Aircraft HQ during WWII. After the war, the Elwes family restored the remaining part of the house, now a Grade II* listed private home alongside its 18th-century Orangery. The grounds are equally historic, featuring medieval carp lakes, a Nuns’ Walk, a Georgian courtyard by John Carr of York, and one of the largest walled gardens in northern England. In 1970, Captain Jeremy Elwes and his wife Clare opened the estate to the public as a Country Park, creating a space for people to enjoy nature, history, and the arts. Today, Gervase and Clare Elwes continue that legacy, proudly caring for and sharing this remarkable estate.
